When the weather is just straight up abominable, and you’re sick of sitting inside watching the HBO-GO dial spin until kingdom come, well sometimes it helps to go thrifting. We know that it can be a total drag to sift through thousands of army jackets and Christmas sweaters, so here are a few fun thrift stores around NYC and Brooklyn that will surely make up for the chapped noses and frozen toes.
1.) SHAREEN VINTAGE NYC
The pink dress hanging from the fire escape outside of Shareen Vintage is your beacon of hope for the springtime. This quaint vintage shop is located in NYC’s flatiron neighborhood, tucked away in the second floor of a cozy apartment. The shop is a word-of-mouth hideaway that houses impeccable 50’s dresses, furs, 70’s florals, 90’s-chic, and so much more. The store feels like a personal dressing room, organized by decade, with couches, candy, and wine; you know, something along the lines of your dream closet. There are no dressing rooms, so you sort of stand in front of a mirror while the girls who work there offer to dress you, but that luxury is obviously optional. The price range for the regular vintage selection is $38-$78. Then there is a high-end section that starts at $78. It’s a hell of a bargain for the gems that you’ll find here. Before you know it, you have been there for three hours, engaged in serious girl-talk with the employees, and are walking out the door already wondering when you get your next paycheck. Also, I forgot to mention one major thing, NO BOYS ALLOWED! This is a store dedicated to women, and their fashion needs. If you come with a dude, there is a bench in the hallway with some GQ magazines for them to read.

2.) AuH2O GOLDWATER THRIFTIQUE
This awesome store actually has two locations. One is located in the East Village and the other in Brooklyn off of the Graham avenue L train. The main reason why this place is so great is because it is incredibly affordable. The prices range from $5- $25, and their $5 and $10 racks are always on point. I know this sounds impossible, or sketchy, but it’s not! Sometimes the store can be hit or miss, but when you hit, you hit. They offer a more contemporary, recycled vintage selection, ranging from funky high-waisted pants to a super cute shirt you saw at urban outfitters 10 years ago. Also, there is a plethora of interesting accessories that you often can’t help passing on. Their selection is on the smaller side, only making your experience easier and breezier. The staff is very inviting and they never obnoxiously interrupt your browsing vibe. This store also sells to women exclusively.

3.) AMARCORD VINTAGE FASHION
Here is another awesome spot with two killer locations. The first is in SOHO and the other in Williamsburg right off of the Bedford L. Amarcord is for the fashionistas in need of a new golden knit tank top, the ladies who can’t leave the house without a groovy hat, or people like me who like to casually browse for some cashmere pants. This store is fairly priced, especially for how ravishing their pieces are. Amarcord honors a European flair as it carries many carefully selected designer, collectible and runway-inspirational pieces. The store looks very similar to a pretentious boutique in the West Village, but once you enter, it doesn’t feel that way at all. One of the best features of the store is that it is organized by color, which is just fun to look at.
