“When sleeping women wake, mountains will move.” Originally a Chinese proverb, this is the mantra at the heart of Chicks Rip, the brainchild of Marin County, California-based Lindsay Simmons and Syd Bannerman. In a world where women are continuously undermined and made to feel self-conscious, Chicks Rip provides an outlet for empowerment and exploration. Offering summer camps and tailored lessons in horseback riding, surfing, mountain biking, yoga, and hiking, the program aims to foster strong, fearless women of all ages with positivity and affirmation.
Lindsay, an accomplished horseback rider, and Syd, a professional snowboarder, instantly bonded over their experiences as young women; getting into nature and pushing themselves out of their comfort zones allowed them to conquer the hurdles of adolescence and young womanhood. Now it’s time for them to pass that strength of spirit along to other women.
With a zero judgement policy, Chicks Rip will offer customizable guided adventures catered to individual needs and goals. Explain Lindsay and Syd, “anyone is capable of doing a variety of sports and each sport is a gateway to learning confidence, authority and patience while learning to live out of love and operate with passion every single day.” Chicks Rip is about living in the moment, about tossing aside the voice in our heads that says we can’t. We all have fears and hangups, but with a little support from one another, we can indeed move mountains.
