Skorts were my best friend as a kid, especially during the summer months. The skirts on the outside were short enough to keep me cool and nice enough to wear to a friend’s birthday party, while the built-in shorts underneath allowed for unrestricted jungle-gym antics without having to worry about flashing the entire school. With the serious July heat setting in, I’m finding myself reminiscing about playground days, popsicles and the pure genius that is the skirt-shorts hybrid.
As of late, I’ve seen a bunch of my grade-school style favorites (scrunchies, chokers, even jelly shoes) re-emerge, but skorts haven’t seen quite the same cultural renaissance. But why not? They’re short, cute and incredibly versatile—the perfect summer garment. After some digging, though, I finally found a few online stores that sell them. Here are five of my favorites, all grown up:
Asos, $28.58
Akira, $34.90
Express, $78.00
Missguided, $35.98
Boohoo, $40.00
Viva skorts!
