One of the most distinctive and enigmatic figures in pop culture was Nico (1938–1988). Starting on Sept. 11, the very lovely and talented Tammy Faye Starlite with be performing her homage to the great lady. In “Nico: Underground”, Ms. Starlight plays the grande dame as she takes us on a tour of her unorthodox life.
Incorporating many of Nico’s original songs as well as the ones she so famously covered penned by heavies like Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, etc. Tammy does it all expertly in a humorous, touching, and insightful way. Do not miss this extremely entertaining evening of music and personal anecdotes about rock ‘n’ roll’s original bohemian, teutonic ice queen.
“Nico: Underground” will run Sept. 11 to 28 at Theater For The New City, 155 First Avenue, New York, NY 10003.
