Great news for all you nostalgic feminist comic book lovers out there! Dynamite Comics first announced in July via The New York Times that they will be publishing a new comic book crossover starring Wonder Woman and The Bionic Woman.
These heroines dominated television screens in the ’70s, with Lynda Carter starring as the Amazonian warrior and Lindsay Wagner as Jamie Sommers, whose body is rebuilt bionically after a skydiving accident.
DC Comics had brought back Lynda Carter’s character with Wonder Woman ‘77 this past June, and Dynamite has confirmed that best-selling comic book writer (and Wonder Woman expert) Andy Mangels will be writing the story with Judit Tondora as the illustrator.
Thanks to a new press release, we now know more about what this crossover will entail. The two heroines will be teaming up to stop the rogue faction CASTRA from wreaking havoc across the nation, so get ready for superpowered feminism and supervillains galore!
Mangels, as well as many devoted fans who have been anticipating this crossover between heroines, was overjoyed with the announcement: “For forty years, fans have been wondering what would happen if their favorite television heroines got to meet. I’m thrilled to get to mix these two feminist icons into a massive story that respects not only the characters themselves, but also the magic that Lynda Carter and Lyndsay Wagner brought to their history-changing roles.”
The seriesWonder Woman ‘77 Meets Bionic Woman will be released on December 7th and you’ll be able to purchase a digital copy on Dynamite Digital, Comixology, iVerse, and Dark Horse Digital.
