It has been a season of revivals with beloved shows finding new life across platforms and networks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rosenanne is being shopped to the networks, and stars Rosanne Barr, John Goodman and Sara Gilbert are all on board. If picked up, would joinThe X-Flies, Will and Grace and Twin Peaks as part of a ’90s nostalgia movement that has fueled a series of second acts. Roseanne, which follows the misadventures of a working-class family in Illinois, started in 1988 and nabbed four Emmy awards during its almost 10-year run. News of the revival comes just a month shy of the 20-year anniversary of the season finale, which aired on May 20th, 1997.
In a 2009 blog post, star and creator Roseanne Barr wrote a post telling the blogosphere where she thought the characters would be now, including such scintillating details as “Dan shows up alive after faking his death,” which explains John Goodman’s return to the show. We, at BUST, are greatly looking forward to dipping back into the quirky world of Roseanne.
