I went to see the amazing 3D version of Coraline last night, and I loved every minute of it! Written by the very talented Neil Gaiman (look for an interview with him in next months issue), it tells the story of a feisty little girl that gets sucked into a nightmare world of scary dolls and witchy mothers who steal childrens eyeballs and souls. It’s beautifully crafted out of what looks like the Rankin and Bass style claymation, and the 3D stuff is trippy! I also love that two of my heroes, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders (creators of Ab Fab) do the voices of the aging theater actresses Miss Forcible and Miss Spink who live in the basement. It’s a very crafty little movie, and perfect for kids or grown ups on a snow day, or any day for that matter.
