Last week we sadly lost one of the best disco singers ever, Donna Summer, and we want to take a minute to honor this immensely talented lady. She sassily and powerfully sang to us that “she works hard for the money, so you’d better treat her right” and that she was “lookin’ for some hot stuff, baby, this evening,” as she kept us dancing the night away.
Not only this, but she also wrote many of her songs, including “I Believe In Jesus,” “This Time I Know It’s For Real,” “Bad Girls,” “She Works Hard For the Money,” and my personal favorite, “Love to Love You Baby” – a beautiful, orgasmic tune that epitomizes Summer’s sass and talent.
During her career Donna won 5 Grammy awards and became a member of the Dance Music Hall of Fame. She sold more than 130 million records worldwide and earned the title of the Queen of Disco. In 2009, she performed for President Obama at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert.
Ms. Summer died at the age of 63 from lung cancer. We will remember her fondly. Here are a few of her songs: enjoy, and dance!
