Hello World! A Little Book of Craftivism Needs Your Help

by ChloƩ Burrow

Itā€™s rare that a craft book seeks crowd funding in order to go ahead, but this is just the case with the Craftivist Collectiveā€™s Little Book Of Craftivism.Ā

Brit founder Sarah Corbett, who started out blogging as A Lonely Craftivist (and self professed burnt out activist), has captured U.K. press attention and grown a worldwide group of like-minded crafters passionate about ending equality via the power of craft.Ā

With the blessing ofĀ crafty activist Betsy Greer, who first coined the term ā€˜craftivismā€™, Sarah continues to promote the movementā€™s message of making beautiful things slowly, allowing the message sink in for the crafter as well as passerby who encounter their work.

Through her trademark kits, which include miniature cross-stitch protest banners, prints of Craftivist Collective projects, and embroideredĀ ā€˜Donā€™t Blow Itā€™Ā handkerchiefs, itā€™s clear she has a knack for ideas. What really sets this kind of activism apart though its deceptively twee format. In the words of the collective, ā€œa spoonful of craft helps the activism go down!ā€

Do consider backing The Little Book Of Craftivism. All sponsors will see their name listed in the backā€¦ now thatā€™s got to be worth something, right?
