Ever since hearing about indie-pop outfit Twin Sister earlier in the year, I haven’t gone many days without reading a new article or blog post about them. Whether talking about their new EP, Color Your Life, or their many shows (they were just on tour with Xiu Xiu and tUnE-YarDs), the New York based five piece has been garnering rave reviews from the likes of Pitchfork and Brooklyn Vegan. And for good reason. I had the chance to see them play (and eat free tacos!) last Saturday to a packed crowd at Bushwick’s Tortilla Factory with shoegaze-pop influenced four piece Weed Hounds and Austin’s reverb washed Pure Ecstasy and it was clear to see that they were having a good time. Their music, often reminiscent of Cocteau Twins and Air, creates a soundscape that is dreamy, but still down-to-earth enough to have fun and get people moving. The band played several tracks off of Color Your Life including the dynamic first track “The Other Side of Your Face” which begins gently but builds steadily into something epic and the danceable, almost disco tinged “All Around and Away We Go.” Click here to listen and download tracks (for free!) to hold you over until the EP is available on vinyl and CD starting May 25th.
