One Band + One Author series, Show Off Your Sugar, continues at CoCo 66 this Thursday, August 19th.
The amazing Sloane Crosley will be reading from her collection of essays, I Was Told There’d Be Cake. She has earned a vast amount of literary praise and the occasional comparison to David Sedaris. This girl is FUNNY!
Following Crosley, there will be an acoustic performance by Brooklyn-by-way-of-Georgia band, Phosphorescent. These guys are a personal favorite of mine and have a brand new video that y’all should really get into.
All proceeds will go to 826NYC, a non-profit writing center for New York City students. 826NYC is an awesome organization that provides free programs to kids dedicated to teach and improve upon their creative and expository writing skills. These programs “ultimately strengthen each student’s power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, in his or her individual voice.”
I mean, a bad ass lady reading from her NY Times bestseller and a hot southern man strumming’ his guitar afterwards…what’s not to love?
Ps. Svedka open bar starts at 8pm.
