Brittany Davis, a blind, Black, nonbinary musician from Seattle, wowed music lovers on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series in 2022. Now, their debut album, Image Issues, is finally out, and it is filled with radical truth telling. In 26 tracks, Davis candidly tackles issues including mental health, body dysmorphia, racism, sexism, and grief. With immense musicality, Davis expresses their unique point of view while remaining deeply relatable. “Follow My Lead” showcases impeccable lyricism and flow. “Kari’s Face” appeals to fans of both hyperpop and self-care journaling. As Davis states in “So Fly,” they truly are “sonic divinity.”
