It’s not often that you get an ice cream sandwich and an interpretation of architecture all in one – and that’s exactly what you get at Coolhaus. Named in honor of the Bauhaus movement, Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, and the idea that every ice cream sandwich is in fact a mini cool house, this awesome ice cream sandwich truck focuses on sustainability as well as art; every Coolhaus ice cream sandwich is made with organic materials, and is wrapped in an all-natural, zero-calorie edible wrapper. Pretty cool, right? Coolhaus NY will be parked outside of the BUST Magazine Craftacular and Food Fair from 11am-7pm this Saturday, April 14 at 82 Mercer Street in SoHo.
Co-founders and co-owners Natasha Case and Freya Estreller offer an impressive variety of sandwiches, with 15 different cookie options and over 50 unique ice cream flavors (like the Chocolate Chipotle or the Thai Iced Tea). I know for a fact right now that I’m gonna be first in line to stuff my face with the Shigeru Ban-ana Sandwich – Bananas Foster ice cream with Double Chocolate cookies. Yum! And you can save $1 off two sammies with the #hauspwrd “Millau Viaduct.” So go nuts and sample as many ice cream sammies as you like! It’s all cool.
