Hey glampers! Julie Jackson here.
I’ve been watching you, stitchin’ yer hearts out and sharin’ yer progress shots…it’s just so darlin’! I see some of you breezed right through the NOMOFOMO letters and some of you just got started—don’t give up! This ain’t no competition so enjoy the journey, baby.
Here are a few progress photos from Instagram. Remember, everyone is different—you can change colors or use any material to make it your own.
Some of you have asked about how to keep the back of your work looking neat. I’m notoriously not a stickler for neatness on the back, so I say don’t worry about it. (You should see how messy the back of my own work looks!) I feel like these things end up in garage sales someday at best, so just relax and don’t sweat the details.
Next up you’ll be stitching Abbi and Ilana. Be sure to do all the cross stitches first in all the colors—just follow the chart. You’ll do the straight lines on their faces last (their mouths and Ilana’s winky eye). I usually use just ONE thread for these kind of details, it’s easier than using two. And don’t worry if it takes a couple of tries to get it just right. It took me three times, and I’ve been stitching for years! When it looks good to you, it’s good!
Next week Debbie will be back with her patient, detailed instructions on how to finish up and mount your final artwork! Plus I’ll have a couple more Broad City PDFs up in my shop in case you’re hooked. And we’ll also have a book giveaway to one brave stitchalong hashtagger!
So keep up the excellent work and remember to relax—cross stitch should ultimately be a relaxing hobby once you get the hang of it. You’re doing great!!
