Be in conversation with art and each other: Harlem United presents con-vHER-sa-tions, an interactive art exhibition benefitting the Alliance for Lupus Research and Endometriosis Foundation of America. Visitors will be encouraged to interact with the art, in various ways, including adding to certain pieces. The works address a plurality of issues having to do with womanhood centering around health and body image.
Designed to incite conversation through memory, at times, it may be uncomfortable but that discomfort is part of the process of de-stigmatizing these issues. Curator and contributor Tasha Dougé wants us to see this show as a part of a larger movement for female empowerment where the artists try to locate the thread that connects us as women while exploring the vivid diversity of our experiences.
The challenge of this art show is to be real with yourself and others but that challenge comes with the support of everyone else trying to do the same thing. So if you’re ready, saddle up for some amazing art! You can view con-vHER-sa-tions at Rogue Space (508 W. 26th St.) in Manhattan on October 2 and 3. Tickets are available at eventbrite.com.
