Last month brought us this hilarious Craigslist ad, which appeared to be casting a brand new reality TV show based on HBO’s hit Girls. The ad called for applications from any young woman “seeking fame, fortune, love or even a hookup with potential.” Now The Cut reports that the first girl has been cast, and she’s no stranger to fame (well, of the Lifetime variety). It’s Hailey Glassman, Jon Gosselin’s ex-girlfriend and star of CMT’s Sweet Home Alabama and a Lifetime special, My Life is a Lifetime Movie.
ABC has reportedly picked up the Girls reality series; according to their vision, “Each character will be loosely based off one of the characters in the scripted show.” It doesn’t seem like Glassman, who’s famous for dating a married man and trying to stay famous, has much in common with any of the Girls. It’ll be interesting to see if ABC tries to mold her into a narcissistic Hannah, a sophisticated Marnie, a naïve Shoshanna or a worldly Jessa.
Lena Dunham, the creator and star of Girls, responded to allegations that she was involved with the reality show, tweeting, “Please do not worry, the Girls inspired reality show has nothing to do with us!” Even though she’s unaffiliated, we’re sure Dunham will be TiVo-ing this train wreck along with the rest of us.
