If you happened to be in New York on Thursday and walked by Bryant Park, you would have been surprised to see the usually crowded green full of mammals of a different sort, a far cuddlier bunch on all fours.
September 27th marked the inaugural event for The Campaign for Wool, an effort from across the pond put forth by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and his British Wool Council. The festival, aimed at celebrating and promoting wool and its uses due to the declines seen globally in wool production and farming, kept the event lighthearted with its campaign slogan, “All we are saying is give fleece a chance.”
Alongside the 30 penned-in sheep clustered within the park green on display as part of Wool Week, wool sculpture flooded the fountain and the terrace with fleece in a “wool salon,” and demonstrations in wool craft and production took place throughout the day.
Their website asks Americans to “join the flock,” and I’m already sold on that woolen couch!
