It’s time to get excited for Noise Pop 2011! And with plenty of reason to!
Rolling Stone calls the festival, “…One of the best ways to see punk legends, indie darlings and the best local upstarts in one extended weekend. It’s meant to be a nonstop party… You can taste each and every intelligently booked showcase.”
A seminal indie music festival that never fails to amaze and entertain, Noise Pop has just announced their lineup for the spectacular, as well as a few other guaranteed-to-be-awesome activities, including their first ever Noise Pop Up Shop a month long Pop Up Store and party! By day, it will serve as a merchandise store, art gallery, and information center; by night, it will become a theatre and performance space. Sort of like Batman!
And with Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard performing this year in an ultra-rare solo show, playing songs from both Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service on February 25th, as well as turntablist sensation Kid Koala playing at Mighty on Feb 25, this is one thing not to be missed!
Emerging in 1993 Noise Pop Festival has been described as a “north star for the music industry,” bringing together the most talented music artists, emerging and well established. Previous performers ranged from Yoko Ono to Bright Eyes.
In recent years, Noise Pop has embraced other media to further enhance the experience for music lovers; this includes art gallery shows, as well as a music-centric film festival, premiering documentaries about The Flaming Lips, Lou Barlow, and The Mountain Goats’ John Darnielle, in addition to feature-length films.
