Yes, BUSTies, it’s time to grab some colored pencils because it’s happening — Lisa Frank is making a coloring book just for you. The image above from Lisa Frank’s Instagram is the only sneak peek into the rainbow wonderland so far, but from the way its looking it seems we should set our expectations high.
Over the past couple years, the number of adult coloring books on the market has skyrocketed, proclaiming coloring’s positive, meditative effects on the human psyche, young or old. For those of us whose inner child wrestles with the world of “adulting” on a daily basis, this new addition to the coloring book pantheon for grown-ups is sure to captivate.
From pandas to leopards to teddy bears and pastries, Lisa Frank is already a coloring book powerhouse, so we’re just too psyched to see what’s been thought up for us older kids. There is official release date (yet!) but we’ve made a list of some of our favorite lil characters to tide us over.
Here are some classic cuties from Lisa Frank that we’re hoping have made the cut into the book:
1. Hunter the Rainbow Print Leopard
Hunter is one of Lisa’s own favorite characters her company has produced, and we love him too! Lots of fluff and spots are sure to be an adult colorer’s dream.
2. Peekaboo the Turtle
This psychedelic darling (surrounded by some suspect-looking mushrooms) could easily have an adult makeover! We would love to spend a rainy day making those flowers on their shell pop.
3. Skye the Unicorn
We’d be happy with Markie the unicorn as well, but look at this majestic steed! We’d color that mane any day.
4. Reef the Seal
Reef is just too freakin’ cute, plus, it looks like we’d probably get some bonus technicolor fish to fill in with their inclusion in the coloring book!
5. Casey and Caymus the Golden Retrievers
These are two golden retriever puppies who like doggie sundaes… enough said.
6. Mad Splash the Killer Whale
Yes, you heard us: Mad Splash, AKA the best whale name ever. Another adorable aquatic buddy from Lisa Frank that’ll have us scribbling in many an ocean sunset.
8. The Gumball Machine
No, this isn’t a cute critter or an ice cream cone fit for a queen, but it’s the classic Lisa Frank image. In fact, it’s the oldest image from the company! Coming out in 1987, the gumball machine set the ball rolling on the now legendary neon company, so we think carrying the tradition into the new coloring book would be just swell.
So, if….
… don’t worry! You’ve got a heck of a lot to look forward to with this new announcement from Lisa Frank. Sharpen those pencils, BUSTies!
