This morning, I started my day with a chuckle after stumbling upon New York Magazine’s “39 Things We’ll Miss About the Patriarchy, Which is Dead“. The article came as a response to Slate Magazine’s piece “The Patriarchy is Dead” (subtitle: Feminists, accept it.) (sub-subtitle: ugh, gross.)
Check out a few of the things New York Magazine says they will miss the most about the dead-and-buried patriarchal structure:
1. The 200 abortion restrictions passed since 2011, closing 58 (or roughly 1 in 10) clinics.
3. “Bikini bodies”; “baby bump debuts”; and “post-baby bodies.”
6. Labiaplasty.
12. Anal-bleaching cream!
13. Being called sluts.
14. Having no friends because we’re sluts..
31. Revenge porn.
34. Purity balls.
38. “We Saw Your Boobs”
39. TitStare
Ahh yes…the world we live in truly has come so far. I, for one, am so thankful to be living in the day and age where women are finally completely equal to men.
(It’s okay if you’re crying on the inside now, I am too.)
