Menstrupedia is a self-defined “friendly guide to periods which helps girls and women to stay healthy and active during their periods.” That description couldn’t be any more perfect! The website is simple yet incredibly informative; it treats the subject of menstruation both frankly and warmly. Needless to say, I wish I had access to something like this when I was 11 years old (I like to think the various Kotex websites that were 90% friendship-bracelet tutorials were responsible for my demise).
What really struck me, though, was a video they posted a few days ago titled “The Beauty of RED.” Part finely-crafted animation, part slam-poem, the video reflects on the symbolism, the shame, and ultimately, the triumph of a woman’s body. Watch the full clip below and share it with a girl or woman in your life who should know just how magical they are.
