Green your beauty routine with these cannabis-centric prods
Hemp- and cannabis-infused natural beauty products are having a well-deserved moment and as an herbalist, makeup artist, and natural beauty expert, I couldn’t be more thrilled. Cannabis has internal benefits, as it works with the body’s endocannabinoid system to help relieve pain, bring down inflammation, and return balance. This can address beauty concerns from the inside out—balancing hormones to abate acne, encouraging deep sleep to diminish under eye circles, or improving digestion, which helps make skin glowy and bright. But cannabis also has external benefits, as with the following products. Topically, it can help with pain, soothe inflammation, is an antioxidant, and is super hydrating. The stigma around this plant, plus the regulations that differ from state to state, can make these products difficult to access, but the journey is worth it. Here are some of my current favorites.
Crave Salvation Oil Serum
This serum is full of nutritional plants that help with dry, dull, or sensitive skin. The ingredients are high in vitamins, Omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9, and skin-protecting antioxidants with the CBD oil from hemp, plus curcumin from turmeric. It can be used day and night and does not clog pores. $46, craveskincare.com
Extra Strength Relieving Body Creme
This cream, full of anti-inflammatory plant extracts like arnica, peppermint, juniper, and cannabis, is a great topical way to relieve body aches and stiff joints. It’s cool and invigorating to the touch. $60, apothecanna.com
Cannabis Feminist Infused Rosehip Facial Oil
This blend of CBD and rosehip oil is really soothing and hydrating as a day and night oil, plus it was created by the ladies of Cannabis Feminist, who are creating an entirely new model for how we consume, learn about, and share the cannabis experience. $40, cannabisfeminist.com
Heavenly Hash Bath
This blend—cannabis leaves, lavender, chamomile, peppermint, grapeseed oil, Dead Sea salt, and Epsom salts—comes in a muslin tea bag you steep in the bath, creating a soothing and transformative soak. It’s anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antispasmodic, perfect for PMS, muscle cramps, before bed for insomnia, or in the morning to treat the nausea and headache of a hangover. $17, maryjanesmedicinals.com
