Mark your calendars, ladies! On October 11, BUST’s very own Emily Rems will be celebrity judging the 9th Annual Miss Lez Pageant in Brooklyn, New York! Murray ‘Mr. Showbiz’ Hill, has this to say: ‘The Miss Lez Pageant takes the traditional, ‘straight,’ out-dated beauty pageant and turns it upside down, inside-out, outside-in, by giving queer womyn the chance to interpret what beauty and a pageant means to them. In other words, there are no rules and the outcome is always worth the price of admission.’
The contestants compete in standard categories — Platform, Swimsuit, Evening Gown, Interview, and Talent — but the prizes include a Hitachi Magic Wand and ‘a plastic yet priceless tiara from Brooklyn’s best dollar store.’
Other celebrity judges include Michael Musto from the Village Voice and Kate McKinnon from Logo’s Big Gay Sketch Show. Last year’s winner Sequinette will be performing along with Switch ‘N Play drag alliance and DJ Dirty Jean. Sounds like a party to us!
