At the NY premiere of Beth B’s latest documentary, EXPOSED–which pulls back the curtain on the NYC Burlesque scene–there was a touching moment during the Q+A that followed the screening: A young audience member revealed that she had grown up in a very closed-minded family, and wept as she thanked the performers for their bravery.
This was just one of the many moments that made me realize that this special movie–which discusses sexuality, letting go of our own insecurities, and what is considered “normal”–needs to be seen by as many people as possible!
The film is done and ready to be released in theaters, but the filmmakers still need to secure the rights to the songs used by the performers. In order to make this happen, they’ve launched a Kickstarter Campaign that you can help fund!
If you’re at all familiar with these genius performers: DIRTY MARTINI, MAT FRASER, JULIE ATLAS MUZ, ROSE WOOD, BUNNY LOVE, BAMBI THE MERMAID, WORLD FAMOUS *BOB*, JAMES HABACKER or TIGGER, then you have to see this film! if you’re not familiar with them, trust me when I say they give 110% on stage and this film gives an amazing glimpse into their lives.
Please support independent film and especially this movie. Visit EXPOSED’s Kickstarter page for more info.
