Whether you’re a big time lover of the stars, or just want to spruce up an old scarf that can double as a shawl for the upcoming warmer months, this DIY will be sure to add an interstellar kick to your spring wardrobe. A Beautiful Mess lays out the recipe below (note: this does require some light embroidery).
You will need:
- Scarf
- Scissors
- White colored pencil
- Craft foam (black)
- Fabric paint
- A piece of cardboard
- Super glue
- Disappearing ink pen
- Embroidery needle
- Embroidery floss
- (Optional) Embroidery hoop
All right, so the first step is to make a star (your own design) by tracing it on a piece of paper and cutting it out. Then, take the star cutout and put it over the craft foam, trace the star with the white colored pencil, and cut out the star from the foam. Next, take the super glue and glue the foam star to the cardboard piece so it’s now a stamp. Paint your star with fabric paint, and then stamp out your constellation. Use the disappearing pen to draw lines between the stars, and then embroider the lines. Voila! Your very own constellation scarf:
